The Flavours of Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island offers an impressive selection of cafes, restaurants, farm gates and cellar doors where you can taste some of the delightful local produce and treat yourself to a dining out experience. Admittedly, daytime options are more abundant, whereas evening dining a little less so, which is the reason many visitors eat out during their day’s adventures, and eat in back in their Retreat, on their return. This beautifully complements your self-cooking dining-in experience at Ecopia.

Millie Mae’s Pantry, Penneshaw
Lovely rustic café offering great coffee, breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. Open 7 days a week 7:30-16:00

Dudley Wines, Dudley
A cliff-top cellar door with spectacular views, offering wine tasting and a small menu of platters and pizzas (need to book for lunch). Open 7 days a week 11:00-16:30

False Cape Wines, Dudley
A unique cellar door with views of the vineyards, offering a great tasting experience and lovely platter and other light lunch options. Open 7 days a week 11:00-17:00

Sunset Food and Wine, Dudley
A modern bistro offering a bespoke dining experience showcasing local produce. Bookings essential. Open December-April, Tuesday-Wednesday lunch only, Thursday-Saturday lunch and dinner.

The Odd Plate, Kingscote
An a-la-carte restaurant located in a charming heritage guesthouse overlooking the beautiful Napean Bay, offering a set menu of 5 course dinner. TEMPORARILY CLOSED.

Cactus, Kingscote
A fun, energetic and vibrant café serving artisan coffee, breakfast and lunch. Open 7 days a week 7:30-14:30. Occasionally open on Friday nights for dinner, set menu.

So Sando, Kingscote
Featuring an all day menu with fresh and toasted sandwiches. Open Wednesday-Sunday 7:30-15:00

Mini De Lights, Emu Bay
A family friendly pop up kitchen and cocktail bar. Open Wednesday-Sunday 11:00-19:00

Emu Bay Lavender Farm, Emu Bay
A working lavender farm with café offering all day menu of delightful meals and snacks, some incorporating lavender flavour and aromas. Farm gate offers a range of products. Open 7 days 9:00-16:00

Gastronomo Dining (The Enchanted Fig Tree/Sensorium), North Coast
Two incredible fine dining experiences – one offers the opportunity to dine inside the limbs of an enchanting fig tree that is over 120 years old, a summer experience, and the other is a culinary adventure for smaller groups in a rustic shearing shed. Both have set menus. Bookings essential.

The Rockpool Café, Stokes Bay
A fantastic café in Stokes Bay offering great coffee and an all day menu. Open Tuesday-Sunday 11:00-17:00

Parndana Hotel, Parndana
A lovely family friendly pub offering a reliably good menu for lunch and dinner. Open 7 days a week 10:00-00:00

Vivonne Bay General Store, Vivonne Bay
A fantastic café offering a range of meals including their famous whiting burger! Open daily 10:00-16:00 and sometimes for dinner in the warmer months.
