Do you have questions about your stay at Ecopia Retreat? We have put together some of the most frequently asked questions below.
Check-in time is 3:00pm and check-out time is 10:00 am. Where possible, flexibility with early check-in and late check-out will be provided. Please talk to us ahead of time if you have any special requests.
2 night minimum stay as a standard (requirement varies for peak periods).
Full payment is required at the time of booking, of which 50% is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Cancellations 30 days or more prior to the check in date will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
Cancellations within 30 days of the check in date will forfeit all monies paid unless we are able to re-book the entire stay to another group at full rate, at which point 50% of the total will be refunded.
All cancellations must be in writing.
No refund can be given in the event of non-arrival, any unused services or unused nights due to flight, ferry and/or weather disruption. We recommend that you protect yourself with travel insurance.
We have a NO smoking policy in all Retreats. To smoke, please step outside onto the deck. Please dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.
Ecopia Retreat is a registered wildlife sanctuary. We have a variety and abundance of wildlife here and we are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy habitat for them. Pets are absolutely NOT allowed anywhere on the property, inside the accommodation or outdoors.
Ecopia is a registered wildlife sanctuary and we are committed to maintaining a health environment for our local wildlife. They are thriving in our sanctuary and require no further support. Feeding wildlife is absolutely NOT allowed at Ecopia.
Yes. We have a small water crossing around our lagoon that gets a bit more flow in winter, but all vehicles can safely cross it at all times. Please slow down as indicated on our signs and you will have no trouble getting through, even with a 2WD.

Yes! There are a number of electric vehicle recharge stations around Kangaroo Island. For details and a map, please see this page on the Kangaroo Island Council website.

As a result of the Kangaroo Island bushfires that started on 3 January 2020, approximately 48% of the Island’s mass was affected. It is, however, a very big Island (Australia’s third-largest!), much of the land is still open, accessible and very much intact. For current information about the bushfires, please click here.

Ecopia Retreat has been unaffected by the bushfire on Kangaroo Island. Our Villas and the Residence are all still standing, and our wildlife sanctuary and natural wilderness are very much intact. We have been very fortunate to have had fire on our property, but not directly impacting on the Retreat.
