Encouraging and supporting mindful travel

Mindful travel is an approach to travel (and to life) that is more aware of the impact we make on the environment and local communities when we travel.

When we consider our travel decisions carefully, we choose to be responsible travellers, engaging in sustainable tourism. Mindful travel for us is about being aware of our environmental footprint, cutting down on waste, supporting local businesses and community, staying in locally owned sustainable accommodation and buying from local producers.

Now more than ever, we are mindful of our impact on the environment, local community and economy. And, as a sustainable business, also Ecopia's responsibility to encourage and support our guests to be mindful travellers.

For us sustainability is a mindset, it is who we are as people.

Ecopia is committed to sustainable practices that have significant positive impact on the natural environment, bushland and wildlife, and the community around us.

Our commitment

Being a small family business, Ecopia is a reflection of us:

  • Our Retreats are completely off-grid, using solar power and pure rainwater.
  • Efficient use of resources is encouraged and supported by water efficiency systems and energy efficient appliances.
  • Our Eco Villas have a solar-passive design - thick rammed earth walls, double-glazed windows and doors, and sophisticated mechanisms to maintain a stable temperature inside. This way the need to heat/cool the space is minimised.
  • We offer ‘considered luxury’ - genuine consideration for the guests’ experience environmental impact, which extends through our guiding principles of sourcing and delivering our bespoke experience to our guests.
  • We restrict use of single-use packaging, have a no-plastic approach, recycle and compost.
  • We proactively conserve, and further extend the natural bushland on the property by planting hundreds of native trees and shrubs yearly.
  • We encourage our guests to travel deeper and handle wildlife encounters quietly and respectfully.
  • We promote slow stays, being present and aware of oneself and the environment.
  • We seek to inspire our guests to travel and line mindfully and sustainably.
